Guru Nanak Dev University (GNDU) has released its vision document for 2025, inspired by its mission of ‘Education for Everyone - Especially for Outreach’. Vice-Chancellor Prof Karamjeet Singh shared that the university’s primary goal for next year would be to make education accessible to all. “This vision is particularly significant in today’s world, where barriers such as financial constraints, geographic remoteness and social inequalities hinder access to quality education,” he stated.

To bridge these gaps, the university will focus on expanding its open learning and online education systems. By leveraging technology, the university aims to provide educational opportunities to underprivileged communities, those unable to complete their higher education and individuals with limited resources. “These initiatives will ensure that education reaches the remotest corners of society, aligning with the Government of India’s target to increase the gross enrollment ratio (GER) from 29.1 per cent to 50 per cent by 2035,” said Prof Karamjeet Singh.

Special programmes and online learning initiatives will be introduced to ensure that no one is left behind in the pursuit of higher education. The university also plans to introduce new courses tailored to the evolving needs of society, including those focused on artificial intelligence (AI), entrepreneurship, and other industry-specific skills. GNDU will also invest in professional development programmes to enhance the capabilities of its educators.
