GNDU holds Mini Marathon in memory of 2nd Lt Khetarpal

Guru Nanak Dev University (GNDU) organised a vibrant 5 km Mini Marathon under the theme "Run to Honour, Run for Health." The event, held to commemorate the birth anniversary of Second Lieutenant Arun Khetarpal, Param Vir Chakra (PVC), was orchestrated by the NCC unit of GNDU to pay tribute to the brave-hearts of the Armed Forces and encourage fitness among the participants.

The marathon kicked off with a briefing about the heroic legacy of Second Lieutenant Arun Khetarpal. Chief patron, Dr Karamjeet Singh, vice-chancellor of the university, and Dr Amandeep Singh, delivered an inspiring opening speech, motivating participants to embrace fitness and honour the sacrifices of the Armed Forces. The marathon saw enthusiastic participation from university students and NCC cadets, all donning chest numbers as they prepared for the flag off by the esteemed guests.

Safety was a top priority, with NCC cadets managing traffic along the route and medical assistance kept on standby. Hydration stations and post-run refreshments kept the runners energised, while the NCC cadets from GNDU uplifted spirits with poems and speeches during the event.

The marathon concluded successfully, with participants running with zeal and enthusiasm. Dr Balbir Singh congratulated everyone for their dedication, followed by a prize distribution ceremony where five boys and five girls were awarded the winner's medal for completing the marathon.
