GNDU honours plant scientists
Amritsar, June 15
The Department of Botanical and Environmental Sciences of Guru Nanak Dev University organised “Sardarni Darshan Kaur and Sardar Ram Singh Memorial Young Scientist Award in Plant Sciences”.
The award was conferred upon Dr Jaskaran Kaur, plant scientist, Sherpa Space Inc, Republic of Korea, who had done her PhD from the Department of Botanical and Environmental Sciences, GNDU. The award in environmental sciences was conferred upon Ajay Kumar, research scholar, Department of Botanical and Environmental Sciences, GNDU.
These awards had been instituted under a memorandum of understanding (MoU) between Dr Avinash Kaur (Retd Prof) and GNDU, Amritsar. Prof Avinash apprised that “Sardarni Darshan Kaur and Sardar Ram Singh Memorial Young Scientist Award in Plant Sciences” was instituted to pay tributes to her parents and encourage young researchers of plant sciences to explore new areas of research.
