GNDU, Netherlands institute launch entrepreneurship training programme

The Golden Jubilee Centre for Entrepreneurship and Innovation (GJCEI) at Guru Nanak Dev University (GNDU), Amritsar, in collaboration with PUM Netherlands, inaugurated a five-day “Train the Trainer” programme. The programme aims at strengthening entrepreneurial ecosystem in the region.

Dr Saroj Arora, Dean, College Development Council, GNDU, while explaining the need for having a training programme for mentors, emphasised the critical role of entrepreneurship in shaping the future workforce and equipping students with the mindset needed to thrive in a rapidly changing economy.

Dr Balwinder Singh, Coordinator, GJCEI, explained the objectives behind organising this collaborative initiative. “The programme was designed to empower teachers with advanced entrepreneurial knowledge and training techniques, enabling them to pass on these skills to students effectively. We are promoting innovation-driven learning and providing a platform for faculty members and students to bring to the table, creative ideas and ventures,” he said.

The university is hosting Mick Walvisch from the Netherlands, the resource person for the workshop. He brings with him vast international experience in entrepreneurship development. Over five days, Walvisch will conduct interactive sessions, workshops and hands-on training modules focusing on entrepreneurial thinking, innovative teaching methodologies and practical strategies for developing entrepreneurial ventures.

Walvisch said that a key highlight of the programme is its alignment with the “Entrepreneurship Mindset” course, which has been made mandatory for all graduation students by the Punjab Government. “This course aims to introduce students to the fundamentals of entrepreneurship, encourage creativity, and equip them with the problem-solving skills required in real-world scenarios,” he said.
