GNDU win inter-varsity fencing championship

Days after it won the MAKA trophy for sports excellence, Guru Nanak Dev University’s men and women teams won the All-India Inter-University Fencing Championship organised under the guidelines of AIU and hosted by GNDU.
During this national level sports competition, women and men athletes from all over the country participated and competed in fencing skills. Shammipreet Kaur, GNDU’s fencing coach, said the GNDU became the champion in the men’s category, while Chandigarh University, Mohali, got the second place and Punjabi University, Patiala, got the third place. In the women’s category, GNDU stood first, followed by Manipur University and LPU, Jalandhar.
Director Sports Kanwar Mandeep Singh Jimmy gave away the prizes to the winners and said that these national level sports competitions promote sports culture and also exchange of culture of different states.
