The district health department conducted a checking at various government offices including Markfed, LIC, Agriculture Department and Power Corporation to check the breeding of mosquitoes to counter the spread of dengue and malaria.

Civil Surgeon Dr Kirandeep Kaur appealed to all the departments to ensure that breeding of mosquitoes does not take place in their offices. She said that open and neglected places often turn into breeding ground for mosquitoes. So far, only a negligible number of dengue cases have been reported but there is no point in lowering the guard, she added.

“Dengue and malaria are easily preventable diseases. All we need to do is to check mosquito breeding,” she said while pointing out that participation of other government departments would ensure that the district remains free from mosquito-borne diseases this season.
