Health camp held at Police Lines for cancer detection

The Police Commissionerate, in association with UK-based NRI and noted philanthropist Kulwant Singh Dhaliwal, held a cancer detection and awareness-cum-medical camp for the policemen and their family members at the Police Lines here on Friday.

Police Commissioner Gurpreet Singh Bhullar also took part in the camp. A team of dedicated doctors conducted tests for cancer detection, diabetes, blood pressure, mammography, pap-smear, prostate-specific antigen (PSA) test, mouth and throat, orthopaedic and general medical tests.

Around 560 cops and their family members took advantage of the early detection cancer screening camp and got themselves tested.

Speaking on the occasion, Kulwant Singh Dhaliwal said that counselling and prevention of cancer is the best possible way to tackle the menace. The organisation has set up the screening camp by providing nine fully-equipped mobile cancer detection units, cancer specialists and test facilities.

The Police Commissioner said that due to their stringent working hours, the cops hardly found time for their regular check-up. The camp has given an opportunity to them for cancer detection and other routine health examination. He said that Dhaliwal’s organisation has reached the homes of policemen for getting the cops examined. “We are highly indebted to him and his organisation,” added Bhullar.
