Two-day conference on cardiology

Amritsar: Fortis Escorts Hospital hosted a cardiology summit, featuring an expert-led two-day ECHO workshop that brought together leading cardiologists from across north India. Crucial topics shaping modern cardiology, including arrhythmias, coronary artery disease, heart failure, and hypertension, were discussed during the event. The workshop explored the clinical importance of tricuspid regurgitation, the application of stress echocardiography in diagnosing heart conditions, and the challenges associated with pericardial disease assessment. Dr Harinder Pal Singh, Dr Arun Kumar Chopra, and Dr Deepak Kapila, among other cardiologists, attended the event.

Dr Dhanuka bags rising star award

Amritsar: Dr Anubhuti Dhanuka won the second prize in the rising star category at the PHONOCON-2025 (annual conference of phonosurgeons of India). Dr Dhanuka, consultant ENT surgeon and laryngologist at Amandeep Hospital, attended the national conference on laryngology, voice, and airway disorders in Bhubaneswar. The conference witnessed participation from over 400 laryngologists, phonosurgeons and other ENT surgeons of national and international acclaim.

nat’l blood transfusion council meet

Amritsar: A meeting of the National Blood Transfusion Council’s technical resource group was held here to discuss various aspects of blood transfusion, storage, and banking. Representatives from different states attended the meeting, including the Director of the National Blood Transfusion Council, Dr Krishna Kumar, Assistant Director Dr Megha Parveen, and Dr Rajinder Chaudhary and Dr Ratti Ram Sharma. The meeting underscored the importance of blood transfusion services in India, where Punjab had been ranked third among all states and union territories for its outstanding contribution to voluntary blood donation, stated Civil Surgeon Dr Kirandeep Kaur.

Govt’s advisor inspects facilities

Amritsar: Punjab Government’s Advisor, Anurag Kundu, recently visited various health institutions in the district, including the Civil Hospital, a health and wellness centre, and the Chak-Mukand Ayushman Arogya Kendra. During his visit to the Civil Hospital, Kundu inspected several departments, such as emergency, OPD, MCH, and dialysis units, and reviewed the hospital’s management and medicine stock. Kundu evaluated the work of the community health officer and advised on additional improvements.
