An IAS officer of the 2017 batch, Dalvinderjit Singh assumed charge as the new Deputy Commissioner of Amritsar here on Thursday.
Before his posting to the district, he served as the Deputy Commissioner of Gurdaspur. Upon his arrival at the District Administrative Complex, police personnel presented a guard of honour to welcome him.
Speaking after taking charge, Dalvinderjit Singh said he felt privileged to serve the sacred city of the Guru and pledged to perform his duties with dedication. He emphasised that his top priority would be to ensure that citizens receive all government services without any hassles. "Nearly 90 per cent of public work is handled through Sewa Kendras and Fard Kendras. Once the pending cases are cleared, citizens will experience great relief," he said.
Soon after assuming office, the Deputy Commissioner chaired a meeting with district officials to review paddy procurement, stubble management and ongoing development projects. He directed officials to accelerate the pace of development and ensure timely delivery of services.
Focusing on the issue of stubble burning, the Deputy Commissioner stressed upon the need to raise awareness among farmers about managing crop residue without setting it on fire. He assured that the district administration would provide full assistance to farmers in removing crop residue from the field, stubble management techniques and by ensuring timely availability of the necessary machinery.
