In a fresh set of instructions for dealing with swine-flu cases, the Health Department has asked all public and private hospitals to set up flu corners for patients.
The purpose behind the move is to screen patients at the earliest and restrict their movement to avoid further spread of the disease. The hospitals have further been asked to follow the categorisation procedure for suspected patients for better management of cases.
Civil Surgeon Dr Prabhdeep Kaur Johal said: “All patients, whether suspected or confirmed, are to be kept in complete isolation to avoid spread of the disease.” She said hospitals were also required to intimate the department about swine-flu cases.
She said a district-level committee would monitor violations by individuals and institutions of Punjab Epidemic Diseases, Influenza H1N1 (Swine Flu) Regulations.
