Actor Dev Kharoud has managed to establish himself as a mainstream action hero of Punjabi movies with popular film series on Rupinder Gandhi and ‘Dakuan Da Munda’. What makes him interested in a movie is not its action sequences and over-the-top heroics, but realistic stories. “That is why I have mostly chosen films which are inspired by real-life stories,” he said.
The actor, along with co-star Aanchal Singh and actor Binnu Dhillon, was in the city to promote ‘Zakhmi’, an action thriller, which will be released on February 7. “Both Punjabi film industry and audience have progressed to an extent that they want to see different and realistic stories now. So, we do not have to inhibit ourselves to comedy or romantic films,” said Kharoud.
Binnu said, “The rising levels of production and content are prompting producers to take up unusual subjects. It is a good time for the Punjabi cinema.” Binnu Dhillon Productions and Omjee Star Studios have joined hands together for ‘Zakhmi’.
“Dev Kharaud is the biggest name in the action movie genre in Punjabi industry. We have high hopes from ‘Zakhmi’. People will definitely like the movie. Previous projects by him have raised the expectations of his audience and since the film is about an ordinary guy standing up for his ideals, it is a story that will be relatable to many,” added Binnu.
The film is written and directed by Inderpal Singh, who is going to make his direction debut.
