Amritsar: The Indian Institute of Management (IIM), Amritsar, inaugurated its tenth MBA batch on July 10. The ceremony, held at the Hyatt Regency in Amritsar, welcomed the incoming students of MBA — business analytics, human resources programmes — and the fifth PhD batch. Saurabh Kumar, CEO-Retail, Kaleesuwari Group, was the chief guest of the event. Nagarajan Ramamoorthy, director, IIM-Amritsar, addressed the gathering, alongside Admissions Chairperson Ankit Sharma, MBA Chairperson Mukesh Kumar and Mahima Gupta, Dean Academics, incoming students, and proud alumni. IIM-Amritsar alumnus Amandeep, who was recognised as one of the top three best performing managers in the North Zone in January 2019, talked about the most important lessons he learnt as a fresh student at the institute — humility and developing the arts of communication, teamwork and leadership.

Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan Public School

The Legal Action Aid Welfare Association released a poster on ‘jal hai to kal hai’ on July 11 on the premises of Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan SL Public School, Amritsar. Chief guest Kunwar Vijay Pratap Singh, guest of honour Shart Vashisht (national president of Legal Action Aid), along with other members inaugurated the session. Gurmeet Singh Sandhu (PRO) addressed the students and screened a documentary on water conservation. In his speech to the students, the chief guest emphasised the need for rain water harvesting to achieve a sustainable and water secure future. The team also presented a memento to the school and documentary director Chanchal Jeet.

Khalsa College of Technology

Khalsa College of Engineering and Technology (KCET), Ranjit Avenue, celebrated the outstanding achievements of two of its students in the December 2023 examinations of the Punjab State Board of Technical Education (PSBTE). MD Naj Babu of the Mechanical Engineering (Diploma wing) secured the first position, while Anant Kumar of Civil Engineering (Diploma wing) achieved the seventh position in the third semester. Director Manju Bala congratulated the students and faculty for their hard work, dedication and outstanding performance. Rajinder Mohan Singh Chhina (Honorary Secretary, KCCS) congratulated everyone for the outstanding results and wished the students good luck for their future.

Ashok Vatika Public School

Principal Aanchal Mahajan and Col Birendra Kumar, commanding officer of 11 Punjab NCC Battalion, shared that eight students of Ashok Vatika Public School attended a 10-day NCC camp. The camp, organised under 11 Punjab NCC Battalion, was held at ITI College, near Ram Tirath temple in Amritsar. Deepjot Kaur, Aarav Malhotra and Guramrit Singh, students of Class IX, took part in the camp. Activities including parade, physical exercises, yoga and running, along with lectures on topics of general importance and description of different rifles were part of the camp. The students were also taught about the importance of discipline. The students learnt and experienced positive changes in their life as the training helped them become punctual, disciplined, and focused towards learning and completing their tasks on time.
