In an unethical act of civic disregard, hundreds of illegal hoardings congratulating Jatinder Singh Moti Bhatia on his recent appointment as Mayor of the city, can still be seen all around the city, defacing public property. These hoardings, prominently displayed across key locations, have been reportedly put up primarily by team Jatinder Singh Moti Bhatia, making it evident that the Mayor himself not cares two hoots about the defacement of the city.

Residents have expressed resentment and concern over this violation of municipal laws and accuse the Mayor of setting a poor example for the city residents. Pawan Sharma, a local shopkeeper, said, “We voted for a leader who promised to clean up the city, not one who would deface it with illegal hoardings. This is misuse of power as advertisement wing officials can’t dare to remove the hoardings of the Mayor. If the Mayor himself is encouraging such unethical practices, how can we expect ordinary citizens to follow the law?”

The hoardings, which have been erected without permission from the municipal corporation (MC), have not only marred the city’s aesthetics, but also raised concerns about the Mayor’s commitment to upholding civic norms. Residents are now demanding immediate action, urging the MC’s advertisement wing to remove the illegal hoardings.

“It is unethical approach by the first citizen of the city and the MC should take immediate action against the unauthorised hoardings. The advertisement wing of the municipal corporation (MC) must swing into action and remove the illegal displays,” said Davinder Singh, another resident.

Aam Aadmi Party’s Jatinder Singh Moti Bhatia was elected Mayor on January 27. The defacement started soon after his victory and hoardings are still on display at all roundabouts and chowks of the city.
