The Excise Department along with the police conducted a joint raid in the Mand area at Marar village and recovered a huge quantity of illicit liquor and lahan on Sunday. The police said that a total of 1,015 bottles of illicit liquor and 48,200 litres of lahan has been recovered. Rajwinder Kaur, Excise Inspector, Patti said that Inspector Kashmir Singh, Station House Officer, Harike, was leading the police team.

The excise staff from Fatehbad and Zira too participated in the daylong raid. The illicit liquor was kept in a big iron box. A total of 48,200 kg of lahan was recovered from an unclaimed place and destroyed on the spot, being unclaimed. The Harike police have registered a case under Section 61, 1 and 14 of the Excise Act. The raiding team searched the Mand area, considered to be a hot bed for distilling of illicit liquor.
