Amritsar, March 7
Bhindi Saidan police booked five members of an in-laws family after two women accused them of domestic violence for bringing insufficient dowry. The victims alleged they were subjected to harassment as they pestered them for dowry.
Those booked were identified as Amarjit Singh, Maaru, Shera Singh, their father Hardeep Singh and mother Veero, all residents of Bhindi Saidan.
Nimmo, the complainant alleged that she along with her sister-in-law Pammi was cooking in the kitchen when their brother-in-law Maaru along with others came and started beating Pammi while demanding dowry. When she tried to intercede they attacked her with sharp weapons. Both Nimmo and Pammi were injured and were rushed to a private hospital for treatment by Nimmo’s husband Rana.
The police have registered a case while further investigations were underway, investigating officer Assistant Sub-Inspector Gurjit Singh said.
