IndiGo has restored 24 of the total 26 flights from the Sri Guru Ramdas Jee International airport, paving the way for normal operations.
The airport administration said the flight operations would be completely normal after four to five days. During the 8-day-long turbulent period stretching from December 3 to 10, as many as 90 flights remained cancelled and 4,500 passengers were affected at the local airport. Only 106 flights could be operated during this period.
Airport Director Bhpinder Singh here on Wednesday announced the resumption of normal flight operations after recent disruptions. The airport management has undertaken several proactive measures to ensure smooth operations and enhanced passenger facilitation.
A special control centre has been established at the airport to monitor daily operations, coordinate with airlines and provide real-time assistance to passengers. To further strengthen on-ground support, dedicated helpdesks, manned by IndiGo staff, have been positioned at key locations within the terminal, assisting passengers with refunds, rescheduling of tickets, and addressing any queries related to baggage or travel arrangements, ensuring prompt and courteous service.
To improve the passenger experience, dedicated helpline numbers have been operationalised for public inquiries, while additional seating arrangements have been made at the terminal for passenger comfort.
Meanwhile, Northern Railway's Ferozepur division has set up a help desk at the Amritsar airport to provide guidance and assistance to passengers stranded due to flight cancellations. Its purpose is to provide guidance and options to passengers. Through the help desk, railway employees are providing information to passengers at the Amritsar airport regarding available trains, timetables, ticket booking, additional coach arrangements and alternative services, so that they can reach their destination safely and easily.
Passengers can avail the benefits of the premium trains (Amritsar Shatabdi 12014, Swarn Shatabdi 12030 and Vande Bharat Express 22488) running from the Amritsar railway station to Delhi for the next four days.
