Innovation and entrepreneurship most important aspects of higher education

Dr Amardeep Gupta, Principal of DAV college, Hathi Gate, has been conferred with “The Innovative Principal of the Year” award at the recently held Elets 33rd World Education Summit in New Delhi. An educator for last 20 years, Dr Gupta said, the World Education Summit is a globally recognised platform that brings together visionary leaders, policymakers, educators and heads of various institutions across the world to deliberate on the future of education, share ground-breaking ideas and celebrate excellence in leadership and innovation in the sector.

How do you see this recognition?

This award is not just a personal honour but a testament to the collective efforts and dedication of the entire DAV College fraternity.

What upgrades have been introduced to focus on innovation & encourage entrepreneurship?

DAV College has set up IIC, Institution Innovation Council of DAV College, which reinforces our belief that innovation is the key to making education relevant, engaging, and empowering. We have set an Innovation lab, with an aim to foster ingenuity and creativity among students and faculty members.

How do you see entrepreneurship and innovation as driving the future of higher education?

These two are the key to employability in a disruptive world and even in present. We need to transform students into thinkers, innovators, who are ready to take on the real world challenges in job market. At DAV College, we actively foster entrepreneurship through its Institutions Innovation Council (IIC) by organising business plan competitions, techno-fests, and outreach programs on innovation and IoT, providing training, offering internships. We also focus on inclusivity, by offering scholarships and fee waivers for students from marginalised communities and groups.
