The Airport Authority of India (AAI) Inter-Regional Football Tournament 2025 commenced with a grand opening ceremony at the Guru Nanak Dev University (GNDU) football ground on Thursday.

The event was graced by Harpal Singh Randhawa, SP (Traffic), Amritsar, who served as the Chief Guest. A former Indian football team player, Randhawa shared his insights on the importance of sports in both professional and personal development.

Also present at the ceremony were SK Kapahi, Airport Director, Dr Kawar Mandeep Singh, Director of Sports at GNDU University, along with senior officials from the Airports Authority of India. The tournament opened with an exciting match between the Northern Region and Central Region teams, kicking off six days of competitive football action.

The event aims to foster sportsmanship, teamwork and a healthy competitive spirit among AAI employees. The final match and closing ceremony will be held on March 25.
