Investiture Ceremony

Amritsar: Excelsum High School hosted its annual investiture ceremony on August 9 where the newly elected student leaders were officially inducted. The event, attended by teachers and students, marked a significant moment as the head boy, head girl, house captains and other council members took oaths. In her speech, director principal Gunita Grewal emphasised the importance of leadership grounded in integrity and service. “Leadership is not about holding a position, it is about making a difference,” she said, inspiring the new leaders to set positive examples for their peers. The ceremony concluded with a vote of thanks, leaving the school community excited for a year of growth and unity under the guidance of the newly appointed student council.

KCVAS, Canadian hospital sign pact

Dr Harish Verma, Principal, Khalsa College of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (KCVAS), Amritsar, has signed a three-year (extendable to five years) memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Niagara Pet Hospital, a renowned private institution based in Ontario (Canada), owned by Dr PK Verma. The signing ceremony was witnessed by Mridula Verma, manager of Niagara Pet Hospital, and Dr SK Nagpal, managing director of KCVAS, Amritsar. “This international partnership is poised to bring numerous benefits, including enhanced educational and research opportunities. The students and faculty will gain access to advanced educational resources and collaborative research projects across border. The collaboration will bridge the gap between academic knowledge and practical application in veterinary care on a global scale,” said Dr Verma. The MoU strives towards joint educational programmes that will benefit faculty, students, pet owners, and stakeholders from both countries. KCVAS looks forward to the fruitful outcomes of this collaboration and the advancements it will bring to the field of veterinary science.

Students shine in zonal tourneys

Spring Daleans bagged several merit positions in the recently concluded School Zonal Tournaments. Sahiljit Singh Sandhu, chairman, Spring Dale Educational Society, expressed joy while sharing that Spring Dale’s budding athletes Jagteshvar Singh and Nishchayjit Singh made their school proud with their outstanding performances. Jagteshvar Singh was adjudged the winner of the 100m and 200m race while Nishchayjit Singh won the discus throw event. Sandhu said during the School Zonal Cricket Tournament, Spring Dale’s Cricket team was adjudged the winner of the under-14 and u-19 categories. In his message, school principal Rajiv Kumar Sharma said winning a sports event has a lot more than the sporting skills. “The school’s sports programme aims at developing these qualities among the young sports enthusiasts and that provides an edge to the budding players over their competition,” he said.

Meritorious students honoured

Sri Guru Harkrishan Senior Secondary Public School, GT Road, held a prize distribution ceremony to honour the students, who got merit in the CBSE and PSEB exams. The students who secured more than 85 per cent marks — including Ekamdeep Singh Sikri, who secured 99.6 per cent marks in the state and stood first in Amritsar — were felicitated by the chief guest and all office-bearers of the Chief Khalsa Diwan. He was honoured with a memento and certificate. The chief guest, Dr Inderbir Singh Nijjar, in his address congratulated the students and parents and encouraged them to study hard in the future. Dr Nijjar encouraged the children to get rid of the habit of excessive use of mobile phones to connect with the precious treasures of nature and read books. On the occasion, the teachers who taught Class X were also honoured with certificates. TNS
