Sanjeev Kumar, a vocational lecturer at Government Senior Secondary School, Jabbowal, secured first place in the Micro Teaching category at the Teacher’s Fest Block-Level Competition held at GSSS, Khilchian. Demonstrating notable creativity and teaching innovation, he integrated art with horticulture and botany by preparing a series of murals that visually depicted leaf morphology, the economic importance of plants, and plant identification, alongside other topics highlighting the richness of plant science.
Judges praised his artistic approach to simplifying complex horticultural themes, particularly the blend of scientific clarity with aesthetic presentation. Kumar has been running a school science club at his institution and has been integrating scientific concepts with classroom teaching. His reputation as a progressive teacher earned him an invitation to participate as a delegate at the 11th India International Science Festival (IISF) 2025.
The invitation has been extended by the Indian Institute of Tropical Meteorology (IITM), Pune, under the Ministry of Earth Sciences (MoES), Government of India. IISF 2025 is being organised in collaboration with the Department of Science & Technology, Department of Space, Department of Biotechnology, CSIR, the Department of Atomic Energy, Panjab University, the Government of Haryana, and Vijnana Bharati (VIBHA).

The mega event will host world-class exhibitions, thematic conclaves, startup showcases, public outreach activities, and student–scientist interactions aimed at strengthening India’s scientific ecosystem,” Kumar said.
Kumar has been invited to join the Science, Technology, Communicators and Media Conclave, a platform uniting thought leaders, science communicators, educators, and media experts to shape India’s scientific outreach narrative and inspire future generations.
