Jhanjoti school gets Rs 2.5 lakh cash award for best dist school
Government Elementary School, Jhanjoti in Amritsar, was selected among best schools in the district. The selection was made after a survey conducted by the Education Department regarding the academic, co-academic achievements of school students, performance of school teachers and the overall evaluation of school infrastructure. These schools were shortlisted in each category — elementary, middle, high and senior secondary. School principal Manpreet Kaur Waraich was honoured with a certificate and prize money of Rs 2.5 lakh by the Education Minister of Punjab, Harjot Singh Bains, at a state-level prize distribution ceremony held at the department’s head office in Chandigarh.
Apart from this, six other schools in high, middle and secondary category were also awarded for the year 2023-24 and 2024-25.
Kanwaljit Singh, District Education Officer (Elementary), said that the efforts of the Education Department to raise the level of education were yielding tangible results. “There is a significant increase in enrollment in elementary schools across the district and the push towards creating Schools of Happiness, upgrading primary schools through infrastructure and learning technology is going to improve the quality of education even further,” he said.
