Amritsar, April 16
A national-level art exhibition organised by Jammu and Kashmir Centre for Creative Arts (JKCCA) was inaugurated at the art gallery here on Saturday. IAFA (Indian Academy of Fine Arts) Chairman RMS Chinna opened the exhibition that showcases artworks by prominent artists from across the country.
He said art exhibitions promote healthy creative discourse and aesthetic traditions while also spreading communal harmony. Senior artist S Jang S Verman and Shivdev Singh, president, IAFA (Indian Academy of Fine Arts), too encouraged and congratulated all featured artists in bringing together a mix of traditional and contemporary art work.
Featured artists in the exhibition included VS Rahi, Dr Rita Kashyap, Dr Vasudha Joshi, Amanpreet Kaur, KS Gill, Dharminder Sharma, Iqbal Singh, Sahil Sodhi, Virender Kumar Verma, OP Sharma and Shivani Koul Bhat, among others.
OP Sharma, founder director of JKCCA and a senior artist, said efforts were on to increase art activities and bring them on the path of normalcy after the pandemic-hit years.
“We are reviving our events in organising literary, art and cultural activities under JKCCA and we have successfully organised so far 12 international art exhibitions as well. We have been carrying out art exhibitions through the online mode during pandemic-hit years to encourage artists to continue their work,” he said. —
