Amritsar, March 5
Former students of Khalsa College recalled old memories at the 5th Global Alumni Meet held on college premises on Thursday. Alumni from Europe, US, Singapore, Australia and Canada came to attend the event dedicated to the 128th foundation anniversary of the college.
The event began with a cultural programme presented by students. Khalsa College Governing Council (KCGC) president Satyajit Singh Majithia presided over as the chief guest. He said the college was proud of its alumni. Majithia, along with KCGC secretary Rajinder Mohan Singh Chhina and principal Mehal Singh, honoured former students —- Mahabir Singh Bhullar, an actor; Amandeep Kaur, a doctor; Gurbachan Singh Randhawa, a famous athlete and Padma Shri-awardee; and Sutantar Kumar Airi, a civil servant.
Chhina said Global Alumni Association will itself be organizing the meet in the future. “March 5 has been fixed for every calendar year to host the Global Alumni Meet, which will also have Book fair and other events linked with it in future,” he said.
The principal said the motive behind organising the meet was to provide an opportunity to former students to visit the institution again and recall the time spent here. Chhina said they would exhort the alumni to help the alma mater to improve the standards of education in line with global needs. “The college alumni are spread across the globe and we will connect them through international chapters,” said Chhina.
