Lane leading to ninth Sikh Master, Guru Teg Bahadur's birthplace to be recarpeted
Civil work to re-lay the narrow winding lane leading to the birthplace of ninth Sikh Master, Guru Teg Bahadur, whose 350th martyrdom is being observed this year, was inaugurated today. Situated close to the Golden Temple, the gurdwara was home to several Sikh Gurus.
Central Assembly constituency MLA Dr Ajay Gupta on Tuesday inaugurated the construction of the road leading to the historic Sikh shrine. MLA Dr Gupta said that development work would include relaying of sewerage system and the civil work will be completed with interlocking tiles within the next 15 days.
Gupta said in order to celebrate the 350th martyrdom day of the Guru, all kinds of development works have been started by the Punjab government and added that due to rains in the past few days, the development works had to be stopped midway. Now, the pace of development works will be accelerated, he said and added that in the coming days, the premix plots will also be started.
