The Congress party, at a political conference held in Naushehra Pannuan village on Thursday, expressed great concern over the poor law and order situation in state and alleged that the AAP government had failed to provide security to its citizens.
Party workers from the area participated in the conference in good numbers despite the rain. Harminder Singh Gill, district president of the party and a former MLA, in his address on the occasion, said that the residents of the area were not feeling secure as gangsters were seeking extortion money from traders as a result of which business had been badly affected. Incidents of robbery too were affecting the morale of residents, he said, and added that all links road in the villages had been damaged and the residents were deprived of drinking water too.
He said that the performance of the state government was poor and it had failed to fulfill its promises made to the people during the elections. He also urged the people to extend their whole-hearted support to the Congress which he said was the only hope for the people. Gill said that the ruling party has introduced irregularities in the working of MNREGA and the work was given to those who served the interests of the ruling party.
The Congress district president said that the party must present its unity in the by-election for coming Tarn Taran Vidhan Sabha seat which is expected any time in future. The seat fell vacant after the death of sitting MLA of AAP Dr Kashmir Singh some time back.
