Amritsar, February 23
The day two of week-long science festival, “Vigyan Sarvatra Pujyate”, being organised by the Department of Physics, Guru Nanak Dev University (GNDU), today hosted several activities like a magic show and a film festival. Lectures based on the theme, “From the annals of history”, were also delivered by scientists and academicians on the occasion.
Prof Anish K Dua, Dean (Student’s Welfare) and Professor, Department of Zoology, in his lecture described science in three words, “When, what and why”. He chronicled the moments of Indian science and technology that contributed in its progression in the contemporary world.
Prof Keya Dharamvir from Society for Promotion of Science and Technology in India, Panchkula, presented a magic show, basically demonstrating a series of various scientific concepts that could be defined as magic for the common man.
Harjit Singh from the Indian Space Research Organisation, Trivandrum, gave career guidance to students, who were interested in the field of astronomy and cosmology.
Dr Surender Singh, delivered a virtual talk on the advancement in the field of Indian meteorology.
Over 300 participants attended various events during the science festival today. The events were coordinated by Dr Bindiya Arora with help of students, who organised science book fair, science exposition, vigyan safari, photo booth and screened science films. Documentaries and short films based on science were screened today.
