Former Cabinet Minister Bikram Singh Majithia on Monday paid tributes at the bust of martyr Lance Naik Gurmail Singh Bajwa at his ancestral village Alakde near Kathnangal.

Bajwa was killed by Pakistan Army in an ambush in Kerry sector of Rajouri two years ago.

Majithia hitting out the Congress government for ignoring the martyrs, demanded its full attention to their families. He said neither the government nor its officials managed to take out time to meet the families of the martyrs.

The Tribune, now published from Chandigarh, started publication on February 2, 1881, in Lahore (now in Pakistan). It was started by Sardar Dyal Singh Majithia, a public-spirited philanthropist, and is run by a trust comprising five eminent persons as trustees.

Restraint and moderation, rather than agitational language and partisanship, are the hallmarks of the newspaper. It is an independent newspaper in the real sense of the term.

The Tribune has two sister publications, Punjabi Tribune (in Punjabi) and Dainik Tribune (in Hindi).
