In his complaint to Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, Director General of Police Gaurav Yadav and Tarn Taran Senior Superintendent of Police Deepak Parikh, urging their intervention, he alleged that his wife and her brother, who was an ASI in Punjab Police, had earlier implicated him in a false case. Now, they were trying to sell his share of ancestral land by declaring him an insane person, he added.

The complainant Angrej Singh, a resident of Nanaksar Mohalla, said he had gone to Dubai to earn his livelihood. He said he had earned over Rs 3 crore and had gold jewellery worth over 20 lakh which his wife had allegedly grabbed.

Sharing details, Angrej Singh said he stayed in Dubai and Canada for 14 years and handed over whatever he earned to his wife. He returned three years ago. He alleged later that he learnt that his wife and her relatives had usurped his cash and valuables. A false FIR for attempt to murder was registered against him at Sadar police station in Tarn Taran. He was out on bail after three months. The man also alleged that the accused were trying to sell his ancestral land in Jalalabad village after forging documents and showing him as mentally disturbed.

Avtar Singh, a relative of his wife, has refuted all allegations. He alleged that some relatives were trying to destroy the family. He said the cops had counselled both sides to settle the case, but the attempts had been unsuccessful so far.
