A police party led by Inspector Amandeep Singh arrested one bike-borne person on Monday, who was smuggling arms from across the international border.

Giving more information in this connection, SSP Abhimanyu Rana said the accused was identified as Shaganpreet Singh, alias Gullu, a resident of Hardoratan village under the Gharinda police station. He was arrested with a Glock pistol and two live cartridges from of Bhuse village.

The SSP said the accused had been smuggling arms from across the border. A case under Sections of 25, 54 and 59 of the Arms Act was registered against the accused at the Sarai Amanat Khan police station, he said.

The accused was arrested four months ago with illegal weapons by the Gharinda police and was facing criminal proceedings. —
