The police arrested a person from the Harike-Patti road on Friday after 257 grams of heroin was recovered from his possession. However, his two associates managed to give the police the slip.
Jagjit Singh Walia, SP (Investigation), told mediapersons on Saturday the suspect had been identified as Tarsem Singh of Kalke Hathar villege, Ferozpur. He said Gurjant Singh of Basti Kisnewal and Gurdial Singh of Ashike, both residents of Ferozpur district, managed to flee from the spot.
The SP added that the suspects were exchanging some packets on the Harike-Patti road when a police party reached the spot. He said, “Two persons managed to escape from the spot on a motorcycle when the police party headed by Sub-Inspector Baldev Singh reached the spot. The police arrested Tarsem on the spot.”
A case under Sections 21, 29, 61 and 85 of the NDPS Act has been registered against suspects.
