Man injured in firing; over twelve booked for murder attempt

A person was injured in the firing.
The victim was identified as Kanwaljit Singh (52) of the same village. He was admitted to Guru Nanak Dev Hospital and is under treatment.
The police have booked Gurpreet Singh and his son Sukhmanpreet Singh of Mohan Bhandariya village along with their over a dozen unidentified armed accomplices on charges of attempt to murder, relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, and sections of the Arms Act.
In his statement to the police, Kanwaljit said he had gone to the house of his nephew Jasdeep Singh where his brother Gurpal Singh and Jasdeep’s wife Jatinder Kaur were also present. He said around 4 pm, they heard noises from outside the house as some people were using abusive language against Jasdeep Singh.
He said Gurpreet was armed with a rifle and his son with a revolver. Their unknown accomplices were having swords and other sharp-edged weapons.
He said they came out of the house and tried to pacify the accused and asked for reasons for creating a ruckus.
He alleged that Gurpreet then shouted asking his son and other accomplices to teach them a lesson for employing their servant Ravel Singh.
He said when the accused started indiscriminate firing at them, they rushed inside the house to save themselves, but a bullet hit him in the shoulder and splinters hit his stomach and arms. He said they bolted the doors from inside while raising an alarm. The accused fled the scene on their vehicles.
