The city police have nabbed a robber for allegedly looting an Uttarakhand bus conductor a week ago. The arrested accused was identified as Gautam (20), a resident of Nikka Singh Colony, while efforts were on to nab his two accomplices in the in looting incident. The police have also impounded the car used in the crime.
The police said Pawan Kumar, a resident of Haripur in Uttarakhand, worked as a conductor with the Uttarakhand Roadways. On March 3 midnight, he arrived at the Amritsar bus stand. After dropping passengers, he went towards Ghah Mandi side for dinner. The victim said when he reached near Ghah Mandi, a car stopped near him and its occupants entered into a scuffle with him. They snatched conductor’s bag containing
Rs 33,000 in cash and a ticket machine on point of pistol. The accused fled form the spot after firing into the air, the victim said.
ADCP Harpal Singh said during probe, the police arrested the accused and impounded car, besides recovering 22 gram of heroin and Rs 2,000 drug money from him. He said raids were on to nab accomplices of the accused who were named in the FIR.
