Man named in FRI says falsely implicated
Amritpal Singh, a resident of Ajaibwali village, is running from pillar to post for justice. He alleged that his name was falsely implicated in an FIR registered at Sadar police station two years ago.
Despite the fact that he approached senior police officials while handing over proofs of his innocence, his name was not removed from the FIR. He alleged harassment at the hands of the police and his small dairy business suffered serious losses during this period.
“My statement to the investigating officer and CCTV footage proving my innocence was not included in the report prepared in the case. As a result, he was arrested and later released on bail,” he said.
Ironically, the police also arrested Harbinder Singh, reader of Sadar police station SHO on charges of corruption who allegedly took bribe from him to get his name removed from the FIR, but it did not happen.
While giving details, he said on the basis of complaint filed by one Sunil Kumar alias Sonu, the police had registered a case against several persons. He was also nominated in the FIR. Ironically, he neither knew the complainant nor the other accused in the case. He said at the time of the incident, he was at home and handed over the CCTV footage to the police.
He alleged that his name was dragged in the FIR at the behest of an official of health department against whom he had lodged a complaint with the vigilance department.
The case was currently being investigated by an ACP rank official. However, he was sitting on the probe and did not finish the investigations.
Police Commissioner Gurpreet Singh Bhullar said he had passed on the necessary instructions to the police officials concerned for completing the investigation.
