The victim, identified as Sukhwinder Singh, a resident of Krishna Nagar was returning home from Guruwali village. The police have registered a case under Section 379-B of the IPC in this regard. Sukhwinder told that as he reached near Varpal village railway crossing two youth with covered faces came to him and throw him down. They snatched his scooter and fled, which contained Rs 18,000 and a mobile phone. Investigating Officer ASI Salwinder Singh said further investigations were underway to identify the suspects and their subsequent arrest. TNS
Thieves strike at goldsmith shop
Tarn Taran: Thieves stole Rs56,500, 10 gm of gold and an LED screen from a goldsmith shop at Balehar village near Bhikhiwind, 40 km from here, on Friday night. A case under Sections 457 and 380 of the IPC has been registered by the police. In his complaint to the police, Karanbir Singh, the owner of the shop, stated that the thieves made a hole into the roof of the shop and took away the valuables worth over Rs1 lakh. OC
