Man shot dead over petty issue, 3 booked

Tarn Taran, July 11

A man was shot dead by his neighbour Jaskaran Singh over a minor issue in the border village of Kalia here on Wednesday. The deceased was putting earth on the backside of his house to stop the rainwater from entering the foundation of the house. This was not acceptable to Jaskaran Singh and his family members.

The deceased has been identified as Kewal Krishan (50) of Kalia village. Owing to the rainy season, Kewal Krishan went outside to put earth near the back portion of his house to stop the seepage of the rainwater into the foundation of the house.

Kamlesh Kaur, wife of Jaskaran Singh and his mother armed with weapons, threatened Kewal Krishan not to put earth alongside the wall.

After some time, Jaskaran Singh reached the spot again on his Bullet motorcycle and fired six gunshots at Kewal Krishan leaving him dead. Parshotam Singh, elder brother of Kewal Krishan, reached the spot and found his brother dead.

A team of the Khalra police station led by Sub-Inspector SHO Charan Singh reached the spot and collected evidence.

The SHO said a case under Sections 103 (1) and 61 (2) of the BNS and Sections 30, 54 and 59 of the Arms Act has been registered against Jaskaran Singh, his wife Kamlesh Kaur and mother (name not known). The accused are absconding.
