A man stole Rs 2 lakh from pocket of a blanket trader after he was injured in a road mishap on the Albert road here last night. The incident was captured in the footage of the CCTV cameras of the hospital which later went viral on social media.
The victim identified s Ravi Mahajan was returning home from his shop located in the Mahan Singh Gate area. The police have collected the CCTV footage and launched further probe to identify the suspect. The victim sustained serious head injury in the accident. His condition was stated to be serious.
According to information, the victim was riding on his scooter on the Albert road when a car coming from behind hit his vehicle. He fell on the road and sustained serious head injury due to the impact of the collision. When people started gathering near accident spot the car driver fled. Onlookers got the trader admitted to a hospital. However, one of the onlookers found cash in pocket of the jacket which Ravi Mahajan was wearing.
The onlooker took out cash from the victim’s pocket and fled from the hospital. When the victim’s family reached hospital they found the cash missing from his pocket. “Ravi was taking two days sale proceedings of the shop to his home. When he was passing through the Albert road, a car hit his scooter leaving him injured and unconscious. We knew he was carrying cash with him, but when we reached hospital it was missing. The CCTV footage of the hospital shows one of the onlookers, who brought Ravi to hospital, taking out cash from his pocket,” said a relative.
