According to the volunteers, this special cleansing of the entire complex, including washing the domes and marble structure with surf and water, is performed only once a year, a few days before the martyrdom anniversary of Baba Deep Singh. The martyrdom day of Baba Deep Singh, revered as one of the greatest Sikh warriors and martyrs, will be observed on November 15 under the arrangements of the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC), the supreme body of Sikh religious affairs, which manages the sanctum of Sri Darbar Sahib. On this occasion, devotees from across Punjab and beyond are expected to participate in large numbers to pay homage.
