To improve the city’s cleanliness, Mayor Jatinder Singh Bhatia held a meeting with officials of the Municipal Corporation and 3R Company’s General Manager Rajiv Kumar here today. The Mayor directed the company to increase its infrastructure and ensure smooth sanitation across the city.
He said special attention must be given to cleanliness around religious places. In case of any negligence, Health Department officers will be held responsible. The Mayor also instructed the company to put all its vehicles and machinery in action immediately and ensure garbage lifting continues even at night, especially from main roads and fixed garbage points.
Bhatia said challans should be issued against any shopkeeper, vendor, or person found spreading garbage. He added that review meetings will be held regularly to check the cleanliness of each area and fix accountability of concerned officers.
The Mayor directed the corporation to repair and deploy 20 large tippers within two days and add 25 new trolleys for garbage collection.
After the meeting, the Mayor said the company will start deploying machinery from November 20 and will have all equipment on the roads by the end of December. He added that the civic body will closely monitor the daily garbage lifting and continue reviewing the system to maintain cleanliness across the city.
