Amritsar MC teams, Kar Sewa Baba Bhuri Wale jointly clean streets

Teams of the Amritsar Municipal Corporation and the Kar Sewa Baba Bhuri Wale joined hands and cleaned streets by removing overgrown grass and wild vegetation on the GT Road here on Monday. The Estate Department has been removing illegal encroachments and roadside vendors.

The department is clearing construction debris and carrying out road repair and patchwork. The operation and maintenance (O&M) Department is fixing damaged manholes and sewer covers, while the advertisement department is taking down unauthorized hoardings and banners installed along the roadsides.

Residents, social workers and business groups from across the city have been actively contributing to the initiative, helping the campaign gain momentum and visibility. The MC have conducted a beautification and cleanliness drive. The drive was started on July 28 from the city’s main entry point at Golden Gate, has seen a coordinated effort from multiple civic bodies and community members.

Today, the workers of MC and Kar Sewa activists began from GT Road, Makboolpura Chowk, where members of the local Valvayer Society from Mehta Road joined hands with the municipal teams and participated in the cleanliness work. Speaking on the occasion, Additional Commissioner Surinder Singh said several religious, commercial, and social institutions have come forward to support the effort and are in touch with the Municipal Corporation to contribute in their own ways.

He added that the drive would continue across every part of the city, and any organization working for local development can collaborate with the corporation to bring further improvements. He emphasized that long-term beautification can only be sustained if all sections of society continue to take responsibility and stay involved.

He also appealed to the citizens of Amritsar to cooperate with the Municipal Corporation in keeping the city clean, green, and well-maintained.

Present during the drive were Superintending Engineer Sandeep Singh, Health Officers Dr. Kiran and Dr. Yogesh Arora, Estate Officer Dharminderjeet Singh, Executive Engineer Bhallinder Singh, Chief Sanitary Inspector, along with a large number of municipal staff and local residents.
