They took a round of the Heritage Street from Maharaja Ranjit Singh statue to Golden Temple. Addressing mediapersons, Sahney said more efforts were required for maintaining sanitation in the area. For this purpose, two ultra-modern mechanical road sweeping machines would be provided to the MC, particularly for road sweeping on Heritage Street, he added.

The MP said golf carts would also be provided for senior citizens, which would operate from the Saraghari parking to Golden Temple. Funds to get the paint work done on old buildings on both sides of the Heritage Street will also be provided Sahney added.

“Lakhs of devotees visit the Golden Temple daily and shopkeepers should not encroach upon footpaths,” he said.

Commissioner Harpreet Singh assured the Rajya Sabha MP that all needful would be done as he was himself supervising development works on the Heritage Street.
