MC to recarpet roads leading to grain market

In wake of the paddy procurement season, the Municipal Corporation Amritsar (MCA) has decided to recarpet roads leading to the Bhagtanwala grain market. The outer road has been dug to beautify under Smart City project. MCA Commissioner-cum-Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Smart City Malwinder Singh Jaggi visited the outer circular road and inspected the ongoing work. During the inspection, Jaggi stated that in wake of upcoming paddy procurement season the road should be ready before the start of procurement so that farmers don’t face any inconvenience.

He also instructed to do patch work on the link road to Bhagtanwala. The farmers complained about the poor condition of roads leading to the grain market which poses hurdle in the smooth movement grain loaded tractor trollies and trucks.

MC Commissioner Jaggi asked the construction company officials to remove the debris alongside the road which is being developed as Smart Road.

Earlier, Jagggi had asked the officials of the construction firm to develop one kilometre of the Smart Road within a month so that the city residents visualise what facilities would be provided in the 7.4-km Smart Road. Jaggi also reviewed the development of pilot project and asked the officials to speed up the pace of work.
