Medicos advocate daily yoga for disciplined, balanced life

The district unit of the Indian Medical Association (IMA) organised a yoga session here on Sunday to mark International Yoga Day. Through the session, the medicos were exhorted to take care of their health and also propagate yoga for human wellness.

Yoga instructor Kiran talked on the ‘Yoga for One World, One Health’ theme this year. Dr Dinesh Gupta, president of the association, appreciated the demonstration of asanas and advocated the practice of yoga for stress reduction.

Dr GS Aulakh stressed upon the need for customised yoga for orthopaedic patients as it helps in flexibility and alleviating musculoskeletal discomfort, provided a few precautions are taken. Unguided exercises can be counterproductive, Dr Aulakh added.

Dr Sukhbir Kaur, District Health Officer, focused on the need for incorporating yoga in daily routine for a disciplined life.

Dr Punia surprised everyone with the ‘Sheesh Aasan’ which is the toughest to perform. Dr Kochar, Dr Monika Gupta, Dr Varun Gupta, Dr Jaspinder Vehgal and others also participated in the yoga session and advocated for daily practise.
