Members of 40 youth clubs take part in training workshop
Members of the 40 youth clubs participated in a two-day training workshop conducted by the Department of Youth Services, Amritsar, which concluded here on Tuesday. A blood donation camp was also organised.
As per the directions of the Director, Youth Services, Punjab, the two-day training workshop at Khalsa College of Education, GT Road, Amritsar, was conducted under the leadership of Preet Kohli, Assistant Director, Youth Services, Amritsar.
In the training workshop, various experts from the Forest Department, the Panchayat Department, the Agriculture Department, the Civil Surgeon’s office and the District Blood Transfusion office, etc, disseminated information related to their respective subjects.
Preet Kohli, Assistant Director of Youth Services Department, said based on the Youth Policy 2024, following the orders of the Director, Youth Services, Punjab, the workshop was organized for the purpose of making the youth clubs’ working in the district more active. According to the policy, the workshop was organised to award cash prizes of Rs 5 lakh, Rs 3 lakh and Rs 2 lakh to the best performing clubs.
The programme started with a special address by college principal Dr Khushwinder Kumar, who asked the members of the clubs to take steps to strengthen their clubs so that society can be strengthened.
On the second day of the workshop (on Tuesday), a blood donation camp was organised, in which the youth clubs as well as members of the Red Ribbon Club also participated. Blood was collected by a team of the government hospital, Amritsar. After this, Dr Daljit Kaur, Blood Transfusion Officer, Civil Hospital, stressed the need for organising more blood donation camps.
Dr Charanjit Kaur Garg from the Department of De-Addiction spoke on de-addiction. Dr Jatinder Singh, Ophthalmic Officer, Civil Surgeon Office, Amritsar, shared information about eye donation and eye treatment and examination. Rajiv Madan, consultant, SIRDG, spoke on the structure of youth clubs and their performance in the workshop.
