Dr Resham Sharma, in charge of Atal Tinkering Lab, and Rachit Aggarwal, a class XI science student of DAV Public School, successfully completed the second phase of NITI Aayog’s Atal Innovation Mission (AIM) and Russia’s SIRIUS Deep Technology Learning and Innovation Programme 2019 in Sochi and have returned back with best practices of contemporary innovation and entrepreneurship.
The teacher-student duo has also been provided with a diploma certification.
Dr Resham co-supervised two research projects encompassing bio-antioxidant accumulation in cold-stressed micro-algal species and isolation of therapeutic proteins from DNA transformed E.coli through novel methods with fellow Russian mentors from Moscow State University and BioCad under the direction ‘Biotechnology & Genetic Research’. Together the Indo-Russian mentors designed, deliberated and guided a team of 10 gifted learner students from India and Russia.
Similarly, Rachit with his team mates and Russian mentors under the direction of ‘Drones and Robotics’, created an automated dual robot system, which, while collecting tea leaves using machine vision algorithms, gets rid of low-quality leaves and shoots, hence improving the quality of the collected tea products.
Resham and Rachit were the only teacher-student duo selected together among five teachers and 25 students across India in this prestigious eight-day project oriented educational programme from November 28 to December 8.
The teams also showcased their innovations and research to President Putin of The Russian Federation and earned high praise for working on challenge areas common to both countries.
After returning to India, the Indian student-teacher delegation interacted and shared their experiences with higher officials including vice chairman, NITI Aayog, Dr Rajiv Kumar, CEO NITI Aayog, Amitabh Kant, MHLC member AIM, Dr Vijay Chauthaiwale, mission director, AIM, Dr Ramanan and others.
Expressing her elation for this glorious achievement, Neera Sharma, Principal, lauded the efforts put in by teacher-student team and blessed them for more successful future endeavours.
