Mid-day Meal ministerial staff’s stir enters 28th day

On the 28th day of their indefinite pen-down strike, employees working in the Education Department as Sarav Sikhiya Abhiyan Mid-Day Meal ministerial staff abstained from their official work here on

Tuesday.

A delegation of the Sarav Sikhiya Abhiyan Mid-Day Meal Daftari Karamchari Union representing the agitating employees submitted a charter of demands to the state government through District Education Officer (Elementary) Surinder Kumar. Amit Sharma, Baljinder Singh, Sahib Singh, Deepak Kumar, Varinder Kumar and other leaders of the union condemned the state government for ignoring their genuine demands.

They said the state government has regularised the services of 8886 teachers working under the Sarav Sikhia Abhiyan in the Education Department but the ministerial staff has been left in the lurch. The leaders demanded the regularisation of their services and stopping of the deduction of Rs 5,000 per month from their salary.

They said they must take part in the proposed gherao of the main office of the department in Mohali on January 2 and in case their demands are not met, the gherao of the office would be extended to the next day and the gates of the head office would remain shut.
