Minister announces Rs 5 lakh for public library in Amritsar

Punjab Minister for Local Bodies Dr Inderbir Nijjer announced a Rs 5 lakh support for Sardar Jassa Singh Ramgarhia Public Library. The announcement was made to mark the 300th birth anniversary of the Sikh general Sardar Jassa Singh Ramgarhia, which is on May 5. The money will be used for maintenance and upkeep of books and basic amenities at the public library.
Presenting a cheque for Rs 2.5 lakh to the Jassa Singh Ramgarhia Federation today, Dr Nijjer said preparations are underway to observe the 300 birth anniversary celebrations of the great SIkh general. “The library is a great way of knowing about the history and relevance of Sardar Jassa Singh Ramgarhia. It has books and literature that document the military prowess and social outreach of Sardar Jassa Singh Ramgarhia. It’s CM Bhagwant Mann’s dream to take Punjab’s history and culture to the rest of the world,” he said.
