Lal Hussain, member of the Punjab State Minority Commission, visited Bania village in Khadoor Sahib subdivision, and inquired about the land encroachments efforts by some mischievous elements in graveyard of the Muslim community.
It was worth mentioning here that some mischievous element with the backing of the ruling side not only made bid to encroach the graveyards of the Muslim community but they also axed number of century-old mango trees without any permission.
The element disrespected the graveyards of forefathers of the Muslim community too.
The graveyard of national-level wrestler Rustam-E-Hind, Hehardin, who was given shelter by the villagers at the time of Partition, is also in the village.
Members of the Muslim community gave memorandum to the commission member regarding disrespect shown by the anti-social element. The commission member taking serious note of the incident instructed the DSP Goindwal Sahib to conduct detailed inquiry and submit report to his office within seven days.
