Mount Litera wins big at Scholar's Cup

Amritsar: Student delegation of Mount Litera Zee School participated in the regional round of the World Scholar’s Cup 2022 held at Gurgaon recently in junior and senior category. Mount Literans made it to the global round, which will be held in Dubai, Shanghai and Bangkok this year. In the junior category, Ryna Khanna (Class VIII), Anahat Brar (VIII), Meher Mehra (IX), Saesha Arora (VIII), Sidhima Baluja (VII) and Inayat Arora (VIII) brought laurels to the school by winning various golds and silvers, in addition to qualifying for the Global Round, in the categories like collaborative writing, scholar’s bowl, debate and scholar’s challenge (Quiz). In the snior category, Zyna Dhillon, Suheil Savlani and Yashvardhan Chandra of secured golds and silvers for the same. Zyna also won rank 1 as the champion scholar of the event.

Students shine in academics

Students of DAV College made their institutions proud by excelling in the university examinations. The students of college have achieved outstanding results in MSc Chemistry Semester I examination, results of which were declared by Guru Nanak Dev University. Paras Mahendru came second in the university and first in college, Aakriti Seth secured the fourth spot, Sabha has secured seventh and Arshit has secured eight position in university exams. Students attributed their success to faculty’s hard work and punctuality. They thanked the faculty members of the Department of Chemistry. Principal Dr Rajesh Kumar congratulated the toppers and wished them success in all their future endeavours.

AGC participates in Kisan Mela

Amritsar Group of Colleges participated in Kisan Mela organised at Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Tarn Taran, and was awarded as the Best Presenters for their stall introducing the latest trends and techniques in organic farming like hydroponics, aeroponic, vermicomposting, herbal products, etc as well as for their export promotion of organic agricultural products for doing excellent work in the field of agriculture supporting agripreneurs and their Start-Ups. Ragini Sharma, Director Finance, AGC, was rewarded as the Best Farmer of the region for promotion organic farming in the region and contributing in the development of the society. Principal VK Banga said, “Such melas will provide an opportunity to the farmers and rural youths to learn about latest recommendations related to crop varieties and production and protection technologies.”

Session on Sikh architecture

To commemorate the 400th birth anniversary of Guru Tegh Bahadur, Punjab Lalit Kala Akademi in collaboration with PG Department of Fine Arts, BBK DAV College for Women, organised an audio visual presentation on ‘Hermeneutics-Spaces and Concepts: In Context with Sri Harmandir Sahib’. Dr Rawal Singh Aulakh, Assistant Professor, Department of Architecture, Guru Nanak Dev University, was the resource person for the presentation. Diwan Manna, president, Punjab Lalit Kala Akademi, Madan Lal, secretary, Punjab Lalit kala Akademi, were present in the event. Principal Pushpinder Walia said art is next to worship as it always comes from the soul. She added that Sikh gurus had a great sense for architectural aesthetics and one of the reasons why we feel the presence of divinity while visiting Golden Temple because of its design and architecture. Dr Rawal Singh Aulakh gave a presentation on the architecture of Harmandir Sahib in context of spaces and concepts.
