Flooding caused by the Ravi river has wreaked havoc in several villages of the Ajnala constituency, destroying crops, homes, livestock and businesses.

During his visit, Meet Hayer visited the affected areas on a tractor and distributed relief material to the villagers. He was accompanied by Ajnala MLA Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal, District Planning Board Chairman Gurpartap Singh Sandhu, Baljinder Singh Thande and other local leaders.

Hayer appreciated the efforts of the state government, NGOs, donors and the sewadars of Kar Sewa, who are working on a large scale to meet the urgent needs of the people.

Speaking to reporters, he said that the Aam Aadmi Party had also assigned its ministers, MLAs, MPs, chairmen and office-bearers to participate actively in the relief efforts. The situation is extremely grave as crops have been wiped out, cattle lost, homes and shops destroyed and essential agricultural equipment severely damaged, he stated.
