Rajya Sabha MP Dr Vikramjit Singh Sahney commenced relief and rehabilitation operations and de-silting work in flood-affected villages of Dera Baba Nanak here on Thursday.

He was accompanied by Dera Baba Nanak MLA Gurdeep Singh Randhawa and Deputy Commissioner Dalwinderjit Singh. Dera Baba Nanak and Dinanagar were two of the worst-affected subdivisions of Gurdaspur district.

Dr Sahney said five JCBs and 18 tractor-trolleys were deployed for de-silting at Dharamkot Pattan village along the banks of Ravi. The MP said the machinery, along with labour, will remain deployed until their land was ready for the sowing of wheat crop.
